nice to meet you.

Licensed marriage and family therapist. Almost 30 years in schools, pretty good at listening.

Hi, I’m Jenna.

I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I spent nearly 30 years working in schools as a teacher, a school counselor, and a therapist before opening my own practice. I've sat with teenagers on their hardest days, walked families through their worst weeks, and celebrated more graduations than I can count. Now I work with teens and young adults who are stuck in the middle of big change, and the parents who love them.

I'm a good listener. I will also call you on your stuff, kindly, when you're ready for it. Past clients have told me working with me feels like talking to a friend, or their favorite aunt, and that it wasn't scary at all. That's the goal. Therapy doesn't have to be scary. Sometimes it can even be fun.

I consider it an honor to introduce someone to the therapeutic process. I don't say that lightly.

OFF THE CLOCK

There’s a lot of life outside The Treehouse.

When I’m not in the office, there’s a good chance I’m reading. I am a huge reader, the kind who usually has several books going at once, and I can happily disappear into one for hours. If I’m not doing that, I’m probably outside. I love exploring new places, especially National Parks, and I will take pretty much any excuse to spend time somewhere with trees, water, mountains, or a trail I haven’t walked before.

Yoga has also been part of my life for years. I’m a certified instructor, although these days my practice is less about perfect poses and much more about having a reliable way to come back to myself.

And then there’s the music. I was a teenager in the 80s, and apparently some things really do stick. Live music still makes me ridiculously happy, my playlists contain more hair metal than I should probably admit professionally, and I recently bought my first turntable since the early 90s. No regrets.

A lot of my free time is spent with friends and family, too, usually with Vito Cannoli somewhere in the middle of it. He is my very beloved dog, and I have some hopes of eventually training him as a therapy dog. Whether Vito shares this professional goal remains to be seen.

A little more about the work we do here:

  • How I Work

You're a whole person, not a set of symptoms. We pay attention to all of it: what's happening in your body, your relationships, your family, your identities, and everything you're carrying that nobody sees.

  • The Treehouse

My office is cozy and tucked away, with a skylight and window, plants, and pictures from some of the National Parks I've actually been to. There are tea, snacks, puzzles, coloring, and art supplies, because sitting and staring at each other is nobody's favorite way to open up. If it fits what you're working on, we can walk and talk at the beautiful park across the street instead.

  • You Get to Choose

I use the word "consider" a lot. Consider trying this. Consider pausing here. Consider another perspective. You get to make the choices here. That's the whole point. And no is always an ok answer.

I am ready when you are

You don't need the right words to reach out. We'll talk, figure out what's going on, and see if I'm the right fit. If I'm not, I'll help you find who is.
