In person at my office, walking at the park, or online. You get a say in all of it.
Therapy for teens in-person in Pleasant Hill, CA, as well as virtual telehealth services. And yep, this page is for you, not your parents.
Maybe you think therapy is weird.
I'm not going to open with "so, why are you here?" We might spend the first session talking about your music, your show, whatever you're into. That counts.
And I'm not going to report back to your parents. More on that below, because I know it's the thing you actually want to know.
We don't have to start with some big, serious conversation about why you're here. Your first session might be mostly about the music you like, the show you're watching, or whatever you've been into lately. That's still part of getting to know you.
I'm also not here to lecture you or tell you what you should be doing. You probably get enough of that already.
And no, I'm not going to give your parents a play-by-play of what you tell me. There are a few important exceptions to that, which I'll explain below, because I know that's probably the part you're actually wondering about.
What I'm not going to do
What an hour with me looks like:
-
Walk into The Treehouse
Skylight, plants, snacks, tea. Grab a drink, take the couch, get comfortable. This space was built to not feel like a therapy office, and people tell me it doesn't.
-
Pick what we're doing
Puzzles, coloring, art supplies, latch hook (look it up, it's oddly satisfying). Sitting and staring at each other is nobody's favorite way to talk, so you choose how we start.
-
Or skip the office entirely
There's a beautiful park across the street. If it fits what you're working on, we can walk and talk instead. You might even get me to shoot some hoops. I'm not very good.
-
Go wherever you need to
Some days we'll go deep. Some days we won't. Both count. You set the pace, I keep us moving, and you leave with something to consider before next time.
The confidentiality thing, in plain language
What you tell me stays with me. That's what makes this work, and your parents have agreed to it before we start.

here’s the deal
You don't have to be sold on therapy to try it.
Come in a few times, see what you think of me, and then decide. No is an ok answer, and so is not yet. If mornings work better, I see people as early as 7am, before school even starts.
